Unter dem Titel c=l=e=a=v=e (aufspalten und gleichzeitig auch festhalten oder beharren) zeigt Cerith Wyn Evans (*1958, Wales) in seiner sechsten Einzelausstellung in der Galerie Buchholz eine Gruppe neuer Neonskulpturen, Leaning Horizons, sowie einen historischen japanischen Katagami Kimonodruckstock, den der Künstler gerahmt, zwischen zwei Glasplatten, fast wie eine filmische Projektion den Neonskulpturen gegenüberstellt. Die Horizontlinie wird vervielfacht und als dünne Neonröhren in minimal unterschiedlichen Lichttemperaturen, einzeln und als Paare, in die Vertikale versetzt, in eine lehnende, suspendierte Position.

In his sixth solo exhibition with Galerie Buchholz, Cerith Wyn Evans (*1958 Wales) shows a group of new neon sculptures titled Leaning Horizons. The horizon line is here represented by thin neon pipes of subtly varied light temperatures. Leaning or resting against the wall either as single lines or in pairs, the horizon line is made vertical, taken out if its usual position, almost as if retired. Placed alongside the neon sculptures, Cerith Wyn Evans presents a historic Japanese Katagami, a screen used to print Kimono fabrics. The artist has framed this Katagami between two sheets of glass, creating a shadow effect like filmic projection.
