Die Ausstellung in der Christophstraße 18 präsentiert eine umfangreiche Sammlung von Büchern, Ephemera, Dokumenten, Objekten und Kunstwerken mit Bezug auf den französischen Schriftsteller Raymond Roussel (1877-1933). Sie wurde von Daniel Buchholz, Christopher Müller und Michael Sanchez anläßlich der Veröffentlichung einer neuen Publikation organisiert: The Books and Life of Raymond Roussel. Es handelt sich hierbei um eine biographische und bibliographische Untersuchung, die alle Veröffentlichungen Roussels zu Lebzeiten in allen erreichbaren Ausgaben inventarisiert und dokumentiert. In diese bibliographischen Daten verwoben finden sich neue Texte, die Beziehungen zwischen Roussels literarischen Verfahren, der materiellen Gegenständlichkeit seiner Bücher und seinem Leben herstellen.

The exhibition at Christophstrasse 18 presents a large ensemble of books, ephemera, manuscripts, documents, objects, and artworks related to the French writer Raymond Roussel (1877-1933). Organized by Daniel Buchholz, Christopher Müller, and Michael Sanchez, it marks the release of a new publication, “The Books and Life of Raymond Roussel.” The book is a biographic and bibliographic study that inventories every known state of every edition of Roussel’s lifetime publications. Interwoven into this bibliographic data are texts analyzing the relationship between Roussel’s literary procedures, the material construction of his books, and his life.
