On his first trip to Europe, Paul Thek (1933-1988) produced a group of paintings that significantly prepared the way for his groundbreaking work in sculpture and installation. This exhibition, conceived with Ted Bonin, brings together five of these paintings from European and American collections for the first time since their initial presentation at Galleria 88 in Rome in 1963. It is accompanied by a new text from Julie Ault as well as a historical introduction from Valérie Da Costa.
With 5 Paintings 1962-1963, Galerie Buchholz announces our representation of the Paul Thek Estate in collaboration with Mai 36 Galerie and Pace Gallery.
We dedicate this exhibition to the memory of Ted Bonin.
